Since NAHB was founded in early 1940s, the association has served as the voice of America’s housing industry to ensure that housing is a national priority and that all Americans have access to safe, decent and affordable housing. In 1974, the association built its five-story headquarters of professional office space, with an auditorium located on the second floor that was used 2001 photo of NHC being built for internal functions.

In 2001, NAHB Headquarters experienced an elaborate facelift, growing to nine stories and relocating its conference space to the first floor. Architects enclosed its outdoor courtyard to create a unique four-story glassed-in atrium, along with a large auditorium with unobstructed views and floor-to-ceiling windows, as well as four additional breakout rooms.

Upon the completion of the association’s renovated conference space, NAHB established the National Housing Center (NHC) and opened the 19,000 square feet of versatile space to host internal and external events of all sizes.
